AgustaWestland Unveils The AW169

Anglo-Italian AgustaWestland, unveiled the AW169, a new generation multi-purpose twin engine light transport utility helicopter designed in response to the growing market demand for higher mission flexibility and multi-role capability in the 4.5 ton class. The AW169 has been designed to meet the current and anticipated stringent requirements of commercial and government operators worldwide. The aircraft incorporates several new technology features, incorporated to provide the highest levels of safety and operational benefits for customers. A new generation, advanced aerodynamic rotor design will deliver excellent performance in the most demanding operating environments. The AW169 eco-friendly design also benefits from extensive use of composites, advanced airframe aerodynamics, next generation navigation avionics and state-of-the-art systems.

UK Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, Vince Cable, was told by AgustaWestland CEO, Giuseppe Orsi, that the development of the helicopter represented 'real exciting potential for the UK'.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony Giuseppi Orsi, CEO, AgustaWestland said “We are unveiling the AW169 hear at Farnborough because of the real and exciting potential this aircraft will have for the UK in terms of the market and industrially. Our Company’s commitment to the UK industrial base I believe is widely recognised and the AW169 is another opportunity for the UK to support and participate in a major new programme.”

Sikorsky Aircraft Delivers 200th UH-60M BLACK HAWK Helicopter to U.S. Army

Sikorsky Aircraft. announced today the delivery of the 200th UH/HH-60M BLACK HAWK helicopter to the U.S. Army. Sikorsky is a United Technologies Corp.

With a new airframe, avionics and propulsion system, the UH-60M and HH-60M helicopters are the latest and most modern in a series of BLACK HAWK variants that Sikorsky has been delivering to the army since 1978. Since the program launched with its first delivery in July 2006, Sikorsky Aircraft also has delivered UH-60M aircraft to agencies from the U.S. Federal government as well as international customers.

Bell Helicopter Continues to Ramp Up H-1 Production.

Bell Helicopter company, continues to ramp up its production of H-1 helicopters after receiving a $546 million contract in June for the manufacture and delivery of Lot 7 of the U.S. Marine Corps H-1 Upgrade program.

The contract includes 18 UH-1Y utility helicopters and 11 AH-1Z attack helicopters. Final assembly of the helicopters will take place at Bell’s Military Aircraft Assembly and Delivery Centre in Amarillo, Texas, with deliveries of Lot 7 aircraft to begin in 2011.

In October 2009, Bell began construction of a $31 million, 137,000-square-foot H-1 flight operations hangar and 500,000 square feet of additional ramp space at its Amarillo facility. Expansion is expected to be complete in October 2010.
